Blood Ritual
Cleo giggled as she took the wineglass filled with “blood” from the girl standing to her left in the circle. It had been a great idea to end their Halloween with a blood ritual. She was so glad she had let Angie talk her into coming out tonight.
The chanting grew louder, as she raised the glass to her lips. With only the bonfire for light, she couldn’t really see what kind of drink they had poured. She sipped, not sure if she’d like it, then choked on the taste of blood.
“What the…” Cleo coughed out the words. “That’s real blood.”
Angie, on her right, smiled, eyes glowing red. “Happy Halloween.”
“Blood Ritual” kicks off this week’s collection of Halloween stories. I know the week technically started on Sunday, but since Halloween falls on this upcoming Sunday, I jumped to Tuesday for the start.
