Chasing the Rainbow
Scottie could see the rainbow, but his tired old legs just wouldn’t take him there. He looked up at it longingly, then lay down beneath its gentle presence to rest.
As Scottie’s heart slowed and took its last beat, the rainbow gathered him up into itself and welcomed him home.
This story, based on the image, wrote itself. It’s always heartbreaking when our beloved pets “cross the rainbow bridge.” My grandson talks about people doing the same thing. It’s nice to think of being reunited with them when it’s our turn to cross.
