Chu Chu was the best kitten ever. Really, her name was Princess Arabella Churchill, but three-year-old Linny couldn’t pronounce that and kept calling her Chu Chu. The name stuck.
In addition to being beautiful, Chu Chu was the most sweet-natured cat Denise had ever seen. She let Linny drag her around everywhere, purring all the while. And she never complained when Linny dressed her in doll clothes—not even when the weather turned colder, and she stuffed the kitten into a sweater and hat.
Feeling sorry for the cat, Denise cut holes in the hat for her ears to stick through, though Chu Chu didn’t seem to mind. In fact, when she saw Linny putting on her own winter wear, Chu Chu would run and fetch her sweater and hat and drop them in front of her friend. She would sit patiently, waiting for Linny to finish dressing, then pick up the items one by one, ready to don her own wardrobe for the day.
It hardly surprised Denise when Chu Chu started to show up at the table at mealtime, paws on the table in front of her. But then she joined Denise for coffee.
“You can’t drink coffee, Chu Chu,” Denise chided her, scratching the bit of ear poking out from under the cat’s hat.
Chu Chu stayed put, paws on the table, looking back and forth between Denise and her coffee cup. Denise laughed and, shaking her head at her own foolishness, filled a coffee cup with water and topped it with a tiny dab of whipped cream. She set it in front of the cat.
Denise swore that Chu Chu uttered a sigh of contentment as she lowered her head to drink her “coffee.”
This is another story that was completely suggested by the image. I created a series of kittens in sweaters and hats with “coffee.” I liked Chu Chu best. Of course, I couldn’t let her actually drink coffee, but I decided she could indulge in just a little bit of whipped cream!
Does anyone besides me spoil their pets? My little dog, Jace, loves his shirts in the spring and fall and sweaters in the winter. He even lifts his paws one at a time to help me dress him. The only thing he hates to put on is his walking harness.
We had a delightful cat when my daughters were small. She'd be dressed up as a baby and be pushed in a buggy, patiently waiting until they decided on another game to play. She actually seemed to enjoy the attention. I mean, who doesn't love being spoiled 🥰
What a sweet story and image! My cats run my life 🤣. They are not interested in a wardrobe...
