Lenny watched the ocean, eyes fixed on the horizon. Gentle waves nibbled at his toes as he wondered what Caroline might be thinking half a world away, separated, yet still connected by the vast body of water between them.
Smiling, he dialed her number, grateful for the advent of cellphones.
I’ve fallen a bit behind on prompts from Laura, as I was busy preparing to sell my house. I decided to catch them all up and run them in a single week. Enjoy! This one was based on the image and the idea of connection.
As always, I love to receive prompts from readers. a good format is three words: two concrete nouns and one abstract, though almost anything will do.
I am so looking forward to reading your stories and how my ideas have prompted your imagination. You have no idea how this story has excited me. You see, I am in awe of technology. I am in awe of what it can accomplish and the ideas that led to inventions and uses. I am still amazed that taking a vinyl disc and rubbing a diamond over it can produce music. So imagine how I felt the first time I flew to Ottawa to work, my first time that far away from home on my own. This was before cell phones so I picked up the telephone and punched in 10 numbers and within seconds was talking to my mother back home. Connected. Distance reduced to nothing more than would have existed had she been next door. I find it hard to believe your story was so right on to my experience. This is so much fun! Looking forward to tomorrow☺️
