Linny did her best to ignore Kellyโs constant nattering.
โWhy are we traipsing in and out of every store in the mall?โ Kelly stopped, refusing to walk any farther.
Linny considered continuing on without her younger sister, but Mom would kill her if she lost her in the mall. It wasnโt like Kelly couldnโt take a bus home. Sighing, Linny turned around and walked back to where Kelly stood rooted to the ground.
โWhy do you have to be such a pain?โ
โI just donโt see why youโre looking in every store for a stupid scarf youโre not going to find.โ
Linny fought back the sharp retort that wanted to push its way past her lips. Kelly couldnโt help it. She didnโt always get things without a clear explanation. It was the concrete thinking.
Linny took a calming breath, like Kellyโs therapist had taught her. โI know Iโm unlikely to find the scarf,โ she said. โbut itโs worth looking. If I donโt check out all the stores, I definitely wonโt find it. But if I do, Itโs just possible that I will.โ
Linny watched Kelly process what she had just said. Gave her a moment.
โYeah, but itโs still a pain.โ Kelly said.
โIt is. Iโll tell you what. Weโll check out three more stores and then Iโll buy you an ice cream before we finish the rest.โ
Kelly grinned. โYouโve got a deal. Afterwards, can we check out a few stores for that retro game I want?โ
โSure,โ Linny said, smiling. It sometimes took Kelly a bit to get a concept. But when she did, she really got it.
Itโs sometimes difficult to remember to be kind, especially when someone is wired a little differently than usual. However, kindness goes a long way towards smoothing over rough spots..
Kindness and understanding... the best bridge of all. ๐
Nice to have that understanding of how to Be. A true Sister ๐ฅฐ
