Alys woke in her stasis-bed to chaos: laughing, crying, joyous humans.
Earth shattered, this remnant population had taken a desperate flight, gambling that they would find a habitable world.
Alys reverently reached toward the viewscreen image, lost in wonder at the sight of the planet they would soon call home.
I created this story with the words bed, chaos, and planet. I’ve been following Elon Musk’s bid to establish humans on more than one world, in an attempt to increase the likelihood of our survival as a species. His efforts, for now, are confined to our solar system. Maybe one day we will reach further.
I worry about leaving children and grandchildren in this world. May God have mercy on humanity.
