Canal Flats—population 700. The town had grown by thirty-two over the last four years. Most towns this small were slowly dying but not the flats.

I wrote this story based on the words canal, onion, and freedom. There’s a town in British Columbia called Canal Flats with a population of 700, up from 668 in 2016.
