My apologies. This was supposed to go out to everyone, and I somehow sent it only to paid subscribers, though I had none when I sent it. Please forgive me. Itβs a learning curve!
If youβve opened this email, it means that youβre one ofΒ Fiction in 50βsΒ top readers. Knowing people like you are reading keeps me going. Sometimes writers feel like weβre writing in a vacuum with no idea whether or not anyone is even reading our work. Knowing that you open my emails and sometimes even comment means everything. Thank you!
Iβm always so happy to be invited into your mailboxes. I have an exciting announcement for you today, so get out the bubbly (or wine or coffee or whatever you happen to be drinking at the moment) and toast the launch of a new era for Fiction in 50!
Maybe youβve been with me since the beginning.Β Maybe youβve just found me through Twitter or a friend. No matter how long youβve been part of the Fiction in 50 family, thank you so much for your continued reading and support of my little stories.
Iβve been writing Fiction in 50 for 18 months now and have published 300+ stories for your enjoyment over that time. Iβve loved every minute of it! Today I want to stop for a moment and tell you a bit about myself and where I would like to see things go from here.
As many of my long-time readers know, Iβm a disabled physician, working very part time as a life coach and freelance editor. But my real love is writing fiction.
Iβm currently writing a young adult science-fiction/fantasy crossover series and am about to begin work on the second draft of the fourth book. And, as you know, I publish stories regularly right here on Fiction in 50.
I love giving readers access to my writing for free. I want my stories to be read. Andβand itβs a big andβwriting is time consuming and a lot of work. It requires that a writer bare their soul and confront their demons and do so publicly. Itβs a labor of love, but it is labor.
Paid subscriptions will help me keep the lights on so I can continue writing. Iβm not exposing corrupt politicians or giving you the lowdown on new tech or any of a thousand other things you can read about on the internet. Iβm providing an experienceβstories to make you think, smile, laugh, cry, or otherwise react.
For the price of a fancy mocha with extra whipped cream, you can support my writing.
Iβm not abandoning my free subscribers. I know that, with the best of will, not everyone can or wants to financially support my writing. Everyone will still receive free stories every week. But how that will look will change just a bit. These are the tiers that will now be available to subscribers.
The founding member tier probably needs a bit of explanation. The idea behind this is that Substack allows readers to offer a higher payment to writers they really want to support. You can actually give a different amount, as long as itβs more than the $50 per year paid subscription rate.
Subscribers will save $10/year on a yearly subscription. In addition, if you subscribe before April 15, Iβm offering an additional twenty percent off all subscriptions for the first year.
Fiction in 50 is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
Iβm so excited to continue writing for the Fiction in 50 family. Thank you for being part of this journey with me. As always, thanks for reading! Substack works just like any email so if you respond, your message will arrive right in my inbox. Iβm always open to feedback.
All the best,
Dascha
