βI donβt get it.β Silvia stared through the cafΓ© window at her uncle, who had ridden his horse into town rather than driving in the car with his wife and visiting niece.
βDonβt get what, Sil?β Mel looked up from her crossword.
βWhy people call him the jolly rancher.β
Mel raised an eyebrow. βYou see that sour face?β
βYeah, and?β
Well, thatβs how he usually looks. But he does a lot of good things for people in need around here. Kinda sweet, huh?β
βI still donβt get it.β
Shaking her head, Mel said, βYouβve never eaten the candy, have you?β
Out of nowhere today, the idea for this story popped into my head, demanding to be written. And no, Iβve never tasted Jolly Rancher candy. I truly have no idea where this came from!
Do other writers have this kind of craziness happen? Iβm curious. Weigh in, folks. Which one of your stories has come about in a similar fashion?
All of my stories are inspired by a word someone said. The actions, choices, decisions and life of everyone I know, meet, read about and what other say. Lol. I have tasted jolly rancher candy. I understand why he is called that. Kindness shows on some people. It doesn't on him. Lol.
I donβt know where most of my story ideas come from. Random thoughts just find their way into my head! π€£
With that said, sometimes a single word, image, or line from a conversation inspire me.
