Looking for More Great Fiction Reads?
Sneaking into your inbox again to support some fellow writers
I’ve just joined a community of amazing Substack fiction writers. We’re a fairly new phenomenon on the platform, so you may not be aware of these folks. Here’s a little bit about each of them. I’m pretty sure you’ll find something to love. From serialized novels to three-minute soap opera stories, there’s something for everyone!
The Novelist
Elle Griffin is currently sending out weekly emails, documenting her self-publishing process. In August, she will debut the first chapter of her novel, Obscurity, which she will serialize through her newsletter. So many classic novels were initially serialized. Get in on the ground floor with this one!
Monday Morning Mark
Once a week (on Mondays, believe it or not), Mark Starlin delivers a nugget of humor, a microfiction (50 or 100 words), and a longer story to your inbox. I’ve followed Mark since our days writing together on Medium. You can’t go wrong here.
The Links
Rachel sends out episodes of her soap opera by newsletter three times a week. Each episode can be read in under five minutes. It’s addictive, but quick to read and lots of fun!
Fiction by Bill Adler
Bill is another old friend from Medium. He lovingly crafts everything from science fiction to magical realism to fantasy to every day life. His newsletter comes out once a week. I never miss reading his stories!
Jimmy Doom’s Roulette Weal
I’ve mentioned Jimmy’s newsletter to you before. An actor and writer extraordinaire, he provides gritty fiction, inspired by real life, every day. That’s 365 days a year. He offers both a free and a paid subscription. It’s worth every penny, and you’re supporting a working actor!
Logan’s Fiction Novel
Tentatively titled Windfall, Logan’s novel is already ten chapters in. You’ll have some catching up to do, which you can do directly on the website. The rest of the story will come direct to your inbox, one chapter at a time. While subscription to this newsletter is free, if you like the story, you might want to offer support via Patreon (details on the About page).
The Tidewater Papers
Joseph W. Knowles publishes an eclectic collection of science fiction, alternate history, and dystopian future stories. He is also serializing his novel, Defying Conventions. Lots of great stuff to read here!
I hope you check out some (or all) of these fiction newsletters. We write because we love doing so, but we also love readers who appreciate our work. Thank you for your continued support reading mine. Catch you with tomorrow’s story, About Time.
