Kiera and Chelsey stood staring, unable to believe their eyes as the elevator door opened to reveal Deshaun walking into Morgan’s New Year's Eve party with Jenna on his arm. As the door shut behind him, the girls turned to look at one another, both fighting back tears.
“Oh, no he didn’t,” Chelsey choked out.
“He did.” Kiera leaned against the elevator door to keep it from closing. “What do you want to do?”
“I don’t know,” Chelsey answered, wiping away a traitorous tear. “We already know he’s a snake. Why wouldn’t he show up at my cousin’s party with another girl?”
“But we only found out he was dating both of us last week. He had to know we were going to be here. I can’t believe he dared show his face.”
“Oh, he knew. He wants to flaunt her in front of us.”
Kiera’s face lit up in a wicked grin.
“What?” Chelsey asked.
“It’s payback time. This is going to be one New Year’s Eve Deshaun will never forget.”
Kiera outlined her plan to Chelsey and the girls exited the elevator arm in arm, heads held high. Morgan looked upset when she answered the door. She said Deshaun had refused to leave, but Chelsey quickly reassured her that they were fine.
Deshaun was holding court in front of the drink cooler. The girls sauntered over and grabbed a couple of coolers before turning to address both him and the girl whose shoulder he had his arm draped over.
Chelsey put on a pout that nearly made Kiera laugh out loud. “Dee, baby, why’d you leave without saying goodbye this morning?”
Kiera composed her face into a mock frown. “Yeah, we could have sent you off with something to remember.”
Both girls sidled up to Deshaun, with Chelsey pushing in between him and a decidedly angry and confused Jenna.
“What?” Deshaun spluttered. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“Well, we all had so much fun last night…” Kiera let her voice trail off as her fingers danced up Deshaun’s chest.
“Is Jenna joining us tonight?” Chelsey added. She turned to Jenna and said, “Didn’t Dee tell you he isn’t into that whole one-girl-at-a-time thing?”
Jenna pulled away from Chelsey, glaring at Deshaun. “What are they talking about?”
“Nothing. I wasn’t with them last night.”
“No,” Kiera said with a wistful smile. “But you were cheating on us both—with both of us—until we caught you at it.”
Deshaun’s eyes danced from one girl to another, as if they didn’t know where to look. Finally, they settled on Jenna. “They’re crazy, Jenna, I…”
“Now it makes sense.” Jenna said, stepping farther away from Deshaun. “Why Morgan wanted you to leave.”
“Jenna…”
“No, Deshaun. I agree with Morgan.”
“What? You’re going to listen to these two…”
“Don’t even,” Jenna said, cutting Deshaun off. “It’s time for you to go.”
“I’m not leaving.”
“Really?” Jenna put an arm around Chelsey’s waist and Kiera followed suit. “It looks to me like it’s three to one.”
“Four,” Morgan’s voice chimed in from behind them. “And if that’s not enough, Elliot just arrived.”
Face tight with anger and humiliation, Deshaun gave a terse nod. “Fine, but you’re all going to spend New Year’s Eve alone.”
Chelsey laughed so hard she had to catch her breath before she could answer him. “No, Deshaun, you’re going to spend New Year’s Eve alone. We’re going to party together.”
As Deshaun stalked to the door, Kiera called out, “Did Deshaun have a date for New Year’s Eve?”
Morgan, Jenna, and Chelsey answered in unison, “No he didn’t.”
Like Christmas Eve, New Years Eve falls on a day normally reserved for paying subscribers. I really want everyone to enjoy this holiday-themed story, so this is my gift to anyone who cares to read it.
I decided to write a New Year’s Eve story about a pair of friends who had unknowingly dated the same boy at the same time. I think I managed to create a pretty good image to go with the story. I’m sure the girls had a great night. I can’t say the same for Deshaun.
I hope you have a fun New Year’s Eve. It will be quiet for me. My health continues to be challenging, and I’m not really a partier anyway. I’ll find a few good movies to watch (maybe with my at-home kids, if they aren’t doing anything else) and cuddle up with my dog.
…three…two…one…Happy New Year’s everyone!
The old saying, don't get mad, get even. I'd probably just walk away but in my imagination, my revenge would be sweet 🤣🤣🤣
What a fun party ride! Made me grateful I'm no longer young and potentially dealing with those situations. Oh, my college years...so much angst! This old lady and her old man enjoyed a quiet NYE along with you, Dascha. May 2023 grant you days of better health.
