“I’ll give you eight hundred dollars for the jacket.”
Lorna looked at the ticket hawker like he was out of his mind, which she was pretty sure he was. “Not a chance.”
“A thousand, then. I could pick one up inside for a lot less. I just don’t want to go in.”
“Seriously?” Lorna laughed in his face. “Buddy, I wouldn’t sell this to you for a million bucks. It’s vintage, and you know it.”
She turned her back, displaying the Madman Across the Water logo as she linked arms with her friend. She strolled toward the venue to see her favorite singer perform in his farewell tour, making sure the scalper got a long look at the jacket he would never own.
My bestie and I have tickets to see Elton John in his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in October. I was booking accommodations and making dinner reservations and the idea for this story came to me.
I’ve already seen the show, right before the start of the pandemic and I bought a jean jacket there. It’s not vintage, but you can bet I’ll be wearing it when we see Elton John perform. Somehow, my dislike of ticket scalpers made its way into the story as well. Hope you enjoyed it!
Oh, and I thought about using a photo of my own jacket but then realized I might run into copyright infringement.
Lucky you getting to see Elton John!!! Memories made with friends are the best 🥰
Oh, yeah! Strut that jacket! I'm jealous too, so happy for you two.
