βDefenestration,β Schmidt said, watching an airplane through the penthouse window. βIt's a weird word, ainβt it, Paul?β
Paul shrugged, having heard this speech from Schmidt before. βAre you gonna go on about that all morning? Again?β
βNah,β Schmidt replied, turning his gaze down toward the ground. βOnly until Charlie lands.β
For some reason, I love the word defenestration. I decided to use it in a story. Hope you liked it! Let me know in the comments. Seriously. Do it. Shame if something were to happen to youβ¦ (Just kiddingβ¦maybe)
I read the story, looked up the definition of defenestration, and then read the story again. Wonderful play on both sides of the imagery created by the word. One of the words I love is enchant. Whether the simple root or enchanting or enchantment or enchanted, I always see an image and feel a tug. My feelings about it are always positive although I know it has a dark side. So much imagination in just one word. I imagine everyone has a word like that. Thanks for sharing one of yours in such a great story.
