Claude Gray held out his hand, waiting. “I know you took it, Harvey.”
Harvey lasted almost a minute before, reluctantly, he handed over the key. “I didn’t mean anything by it.”
“You broke your probation order.”
Harvey stared at the floor. “I needed it.”
“Why would you need the key to my office?”
“Woodsy said if I didn’t steal his probation file he’d come after my sister.”
“Did he, now?” Claude would be turning someone in for breaching probation today, but it wouldn’t be Harvey. “Come on, kid. I’ve got a surprise for Woodsy, and then I’ll buy you dinner.”
This drabble came from three separate prompts:
A random name: Claude Gray
A random profession: probation officer
A random line: Reluctantly, he handed over the key
