Starring Role
Raymond watched Kelsey casually spill the contents of the five-hundred-dollar bottle of wine over the even more expensive dinner for which he was going to have to pay but wouldn’t get to enjoy.
“Really, Kels?”
“Really,” she replied.
Tonight was supposed to have been a celebration. Raymond had signed her to a two-year contract for the starring role in the new medico-legal series Netflix was creating with her favorite scriptwriting team.
Dinner had been going smoothly until Kelsey’s sister texted that her ex had just signed on as her love interest. As his client stormed out of the restaurant, Raymond wondered if he could send Netflix the bill.
I’m not sure where this story came from. I was wondering what to write when the first line came to me. I thought, at that point, I was going to write about a breakup, but the story had other plans.
Oh, man. That could ruin things pretty quickly. Poor Raymond! 😅
