“Tell us again, Mama.” Jake remembered the cold, shivering with his brothers. Mamma couldn’t afford heat. They’d been poor, but happy.
“Family is everything,” she’d said. “As long as we have each other, we’ll always have enough.”
Jake smiled at Mama’s joy, entering the house he had just bought her.

Sneaking into your mailbox a couple of extra times today. This is a response to a Twitter prompt from @fix_friday. The prompt: write a 50 word story on scarcity, abundance, or both.
