Today brought six prompts, one from an unexpected source (LinkedIn). Some of todayâs prompts are also three word phrases, rather than individual words. I especially had fun with those, as they were different from the usual. My gratitude to all who contributed!
Second Childhood
Azalea hadnât conjured magic since Libbyâs childhood. Focused on career and family, Libby had stifled her imagination and Azalea had faded, forgotten.
Then Libby retired. Imagination rekindled, she remembered the fairy. Azalea, vibrant once more, took her friend on fantastical adventures, which Libby chronicled in her wildly successful âfictionâ novels.
Twitter prompt from @ChristyKimmerly: magic, imagination, childhood
Sun Salutation
Try as she might, even with the trampoline, Ariana couldnât reach the sun. She wanted to thank it in person for helping her favorite flowers grow. That night, she cried herself to sleep.
âMommy, Daddy,â Ariana yelled as she woke, âI got to celebrate with the sun in my dream!â
Twitter prompt from @imagestoby: celebrate, dream, reach
Do You See Me Now
Keri had tried so hard to regain Ronâs attention. She felt like a child on a trampoline yelling, âHey, look at me! Iâm over here.â Shortly after they married, Ron had checked out. He never checked back in.
Ron finally took notice the day Keri served him with divorce papers.
Facebook prompt from Sheryl Ross: Iâm over here
Border Detention
Their hope for freedom had been crushed at the border, their beloved child taken, then lost. Alejandro held Rosa, helpless, every night as she cried herself to sleep.
Awakened by sudden, bright light, they feared the worst. Juanita stepped out of the glare and threw herself into their waiting arms.
Facebook prompt from Laura Gannon: freedom, light, child
A Matter of Definition
âArenât you supposed to be sweet and grant me a wish or something?â Dan stepped back from the menace before him.
âFoolish human,â she said, advancing. âYouâre thinking of fairies, not Fae.â
Perplexed, despite his fear, Dan asked, âArenât they the same?â
âOh, no. Fairies are delicate; Faeries wear boots.â
Facebook prompt from John Winsor: Fairies wear boots (I cheated a bit on this one)
Son Rise
âYou know who else was bullied at school?â
âWho?â Freddie sniffled, looking up at his dad through tears.
âChris Colfer.â
âThe author? Really?â
âHeâs also an actor. He rose up, despite the bullying.â
Freddie sat up straighter. âI will rise like Chris, Daddy. Someday Iâll be famous too!â
LinkedIn prompt from Karen Try: I will rise
I hope you enjoyed todayâs prompt stories. Three more days to go in prompt week. Happy reading!
Superb. I especially enjoyed 'Do You See Me Now' for the twist at the end.
