Rainbow-kissed giant
Limbs forever reach earthward
Sun-dappled tears fall
This haiku went through many iterations before I felt it ready to publish. It came about on a rainy day when I was looking at raindrops on the bushes in front of my house and on the small umbrella tree in the yard next door..
I remembered a weeping willow my aunt used to have in her back yard. That tree created a love of willows that has followed me all my life. The beginnings of a poem began to germinate.
I created an image to go with one of the early versions, but it still didn’t feel right until I thought of a rainbow. I had to, of course, create a new image to go with the new words.
I went with colored pencil crayon as the medium for this, as I wanted a softer image. I hope you like both it and the little haiku I’ve created to share my love of weeping willows with you.
Beautiful, I like this!
I always love this simple poems that create so much feeling in so few words. 🥰
