Like their world, they were tiny but formidable. No one could accuse the denizens of the mouse planet (so dubbed, less because of its own small, for a planet, size, than for the diminutive stature of its inhabitants) of being cowards.
The Diminuto, fueled by a fierce patriotism, first secured their own world, then set out to become overlords of the galaxy. When they reached Earth, they found it overrun with rodents and realized they were not the first of their kind to invade.
To their horror, they discovered that their cousins had lost the ability to speak or communicate in any way. In fact, they had become nothing more than dumb animals. Terrified of meeting the same fate, the Diminuto turned tail and fled, leaving Earthlings none the wiser that they had come within a whisker of falling to a superior civilization.
