Winter had me in its grasp. The blizzard had raged for three days, cutting power to half the county. I hadn’t been able to even open my door until a friend with a snowmobile and a shovel had come to my rescue.
I stared past Nadim through my now open front door. Nothing but white as far as my eye could see. Even the small wood at the end of my farm was a blur of white. “I’ve never seen this much snow.”
“Me neither, Assita. You know, what this means, though, don’t you?”
I grinned, despite still having no power. I’d get the generator up and running as soon as I got back. “Yup. Only one thing to do. Hold on.”
Nadim stepped into the hallway and shut the door while I ran to find my snowshoes.

This Tuesday’s prompt came from my dear friend, Laura. She provided the first line “Winter had me in its grasp.”
I hope you enjoyed what I did with it. It was partially inspired by the storms raging through the northeastern United States at the time I wrote it. As always, comments and shares are appreciated.
I love the story you created! I wasn't feeling particularly positive about winter when I sent the prompt so this smile was appreciated!!
I love winter and this story makes me love it even more.
