I've quite easily, without any concern, removed a few folks from my social media, some before the pandemic, because of different rants or photos (how is it that sharing shaming photos of folks who could have made better fashion choices is not considered participating in on-line bullying just because you agree they look off... that was one delete!). Now, with that being said, I'm only on 2 social media platforms and have only 61 connections total. Age related? Probably. These platforms were not how I learned to stay connected to my world so I only use them to stay in touch with friends and family. Therefore, easy to pick and choose.

You use the platforms wisely. Because I use them to promote my writing, I have to be more active there. But I limit it as much as I can.

This is when silence speaks. Not saying or acting when we see, read, hear racist comments, white supremacy is speaking. We do make a difference.

Thank you, Connie. I will always stand for what I believe. Silence only serves those who would do harm.

That is the problem with social media. You are forced see people’s political rants. They may not be racist or fascist, but they are still annoying. To me anyway. I want social media to be social (friendly), not an angry political soapbox. My rant is over. πŸ˜‰

I was having a discussion with a friend related to this. If there’s Nazi flags, slogans, or signs at your event and nobody makes them leave or takes them down, you’re at a Nazi event.

Exactly! Standing in silence enables this. Citing free speech suggests that hate speech is acceptable. And allowing people to put toes across the line emboldens them to trample it. Hence we see the rise of totalitarians and racists to power across the world.
