I believe we are not alone in the universe. I don't know how other life has evolved or is evolving, what it looks like or how it behaves, but to think we are alone is, for me, an impossibility. The universe is bigger than we can imagine and there are suns, galaxies, worlds we'll never know about. I'm confident some are well advanced over us and others are just beginning. And the more advanced ones may simply be better at minding their own business 😉
