This is how I feel sometimes about our impact on the earth. I recently researched Chernobyl and what's happening there. The area remains unfit for us but animals and vegetation have returned. Yes, there have been some mutations but they are thriving. The earth is a living being, providing all we need and, unfortunately, all we don't need but do want. But it's had enough. We're like a virus and it is repelling us, making itself an unfit host, like a fever does in the human body. It recovered from the cataclysmic cloud that killed the dinosaurs and the nuclear meltdown. The earth will ultimately be ok. If we're wise, though, maybe, just maybe it'll let us stay 🌎
I’m re-reading a book, “Antarctica” by Gabrielle Walker (now head climatologist in UK) and at that hostile continent they are learning a lot about our previous atmospheres , through very deep ice cores. But also about Mars. And its potential livability. I recommend the book to my geologist friends. The author also has TED talks about climate change. I wish this was on the minds in certain groups of industries.
That sounds fascinating. I wrote another story based on climate change yesterday. It will publish next month. We desperately need to wake up to the danger we're in.
That opening paragraph is an excellent hook! Great story, Dascha!
Thanks Justin!

Let's pray for wisdom!
Nope, not seeing anyone feeling responsible. It's 'them'? Haunting story and image, I hope we do learn, it just feels so late. Thanks for this story.
It is late! Which makes this so urgent. That powerful people are blocking responsible action is more than upsetting.

Thank you for this story. Skyscrapers wrapped in vines was a powerful image. Where are the humans?
Dead. Already dissolved into the soil.
