Bonnieβs disappointment was beyond expression. She had asked her parents for a horse for graduation. She should have known better.
Dad always managed to twist things to what he wanted. βSweetheart, I know youβll get more enjoyment from the boatβ What he knew was that boats made Bonnie nauseous. She would never set foot on it.
βThatβs okay, Dad,β she said, beaming.
Dadβs eyes crinkled in suspicion.
βI have a gift for you as well.β Bonnie had wrestled with this for months, only making her decision in this moment. βYouβre going to be empty nesters. Iβm moving in with Toby.β
I grew this story from the words disappointment, boat, and horse.
Bonnie definitely has a first world problem. But itβs tough living with a narcissist who always puts his own interests before those of his family. While moving in with her boyfriend may or may not be the best decision for her, I donβt disagree with her distancing herself from the situation. Opinions?
Sell the boat, buy a horse, move out. π
Nope, I donβt blame her at all. I might have felt the same way in that situation, but I wouldnβt have necessarily picked that moment to make the announcement, fearing Iβd disappoint my dad.
