Bonnie’s disappointment was beyond expression. She had asked her parents for a horse for graduation. She should have known better.
Dad always managed to twist things to what he wanted. “Sweetheart, I know you’ll get more enjoyment from the boat” What he knew was that boats made Bonnie nauseous. She would never set foot on it.
“That’s okay, Dad,” she said, beaming.
Dad’s eyes crinkled in suspicion.
“I have a gift for you as well.” Bonnie had wrestled with this for months, only making her decision in this moment. “You’re going to be empty nesters. I’m moving in with Toby.”
I grew this story from the words disappointment, boat, and horse.
Bonnie definitely has a first world problem. But it’s tough living with a narcissist who always puts his own interests before those of his family. While moving in with her boyfriend may or may not be the best decision for her, I don’t disagree with her distancing herself from the situation. Opinions?
I agree with Mark! Let's hope it's in her name. As to the moving in with her boyfriend, maybe it's time and maybe it's not and maybe it's just a first step. But it's out. Good move!
Run Bonnie, Run. Hope she picked a good boyfriend!
